BENJAMIN MENARD dit Bellerose (1810 - 1887)

 
Benjamin was born on November 6, of 1810 in Longueuil, Quebec.    His parents were Benjamin and Josephte Bessette.  He was baptized the next day.  Godfather was Francois Menard dit Bellerose and godmother was Marie Louise Viau.


He married Louise Levasseur (Vasseur) on July 6, 1831 in Longueuil, Quebec.  She was born in 1813.

He lived most of his life in Stukeley, North, Shefford, PQ. He also lived in Rouville, PQ for the 1861 Census.


His children include: 

Joseph Napoleon, born around 1842.  He married Celina Nichols on Feb. 6, 1866 at Notre Dame de Bonsecours Church.  As of the 1881 census they were still living in Stukeley North, Shefford, Quebec.

Denis, who was born May 30, 1843.  He married Henriette Gaucher on Feb. 8, 1869.  He died Oct. 17, 1926.

Odile, born in 1847.  She married Elie Guilbeault on January 15, 1866.  She lived in Pascoag, RI.  She died on May 25, 1878 and was buried on May 29, 1878 in Stukeley-Nord, Quebec.

Agnes, was born January 7, 1848 in Marieville, Quebec.  Godfather was Elie Beaudry and godmother was Marie Parad.

Louis, was born in 1850.  He married Adeline Guilbault and died at the age of 29 on the 17th of March, 1878.  He was buried on March 20, 1878 in the church cemetery in North Stukely.

Benjamin, was born in 1852.  He married Louise Guilbeault on July 31, 1872 in Stukeley-Nord, Quebec. Their children included: Anna, born in 1876 and Tancrede who was born in 1879.

In 1861 the family was living in Marieville, (Rouville), Quebec.

In 1871 two families resided together:  Benjamin and Louise with their two children; Agnes and Benjamin.
and Denis and Henriette with their two sons; Denis and Louis.*

It seems that he remarried after Louise died.  The 1881 Census has him at age 74 married to Cyprienne, who was 60 years of age.

Benjamin died on June 4, 1887 and was buried at Bonsecours, PQ.
